In a series of steady transformations, Dundee has emerged as one of Scotland’s hottest destinations and a vibrant city of culture. Recently named as ‘Scotland’s coolest city’ and a hot travel destination by Wall Street Journal, Dundee is resurfacing from its industrial heritage as a bustling little city full of enterprise. Gone are the historic days of Jam, Jute and Journalism– Dundee’s new epithet has established it as a city of Digital, Discovery, Diversity and Design.

The city is diverse in its very structure, from its unique location on the waterfront and its proximity to the ancient town of St Andrews, to the variety of thriving local businesses in and around the city, it remains a distinctive locale on Scotland’s East coast. And of course, amongst creative cities such as Helsinki and Shanghai, Dundee enjoys the title of UNESCO City of Design; DJCAD is widely held as one of the best schools of art and design in the UK and the city is pioneering in service design, home to the country’s first ever accredited Service Design Academy. This is undoubtedly a new era for Dundee, and an integral time of change and social flux as the city continues to carve out its new, vibrant identity. Downtown Dundee is reinventing itself as a creative cultural hub full of thriving local businesses, quirky independent retailers and up and coming cafes and restaurants. This May will also see the debut event of Dundee Fashion Week featuring up-and-coming designers from D&A College.
